Today I have a few things that have been weighing heavily on my brain, and what better outlet than here to share them? By the way, you could do the same by blogging out what makes you think. It’s all sorts of fun!

First off, it doesn’t seem like too long ago I was excited to acknowledge that summer was finally here. Now, in a blink, it feels as though it’s fading away.

As summer nears its end, certain things pull us back into reality. For you junior handlers, reality entails things such as heading back to school and buckling down to a more serious side of life with books, essays and tests. Sadly, that also means the number of dog shows you attend will soon start to decrease.

I’m hoping this blog reaches you soon enough that you have at least a few more shows before all that serious stuff starts to take place because what sounds more fun than getting a group of friends together and celebrating our sport after a day at a show? For summer’s sake, be sure to do something fun the next time you get to show.

Another topic that has been making me think a lot lately is all to do with social media.

You got that right – Facebook is indeed a great place to keep in touch with friends across the world, and to see what others have been up to, and for us dog folks to share wins with each other. Sadly though, it also can be very negative. I know, I know, this has all been said before. Now more than ever though, it seems that negative comments, thoughts and ideas are being voiced by way too many people. Time to set down those phones, put away the computers and spend time enjoying the life and world that is right in front of you!

Let’s go back to having fun, and remember to enjoy the remainder of your summertime fun!

Oh, and don’t forget that Dogs Freakin’ Rule!
