GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar

One of the most fun things about this time of year is the chance to become familair with a whole new generation of show dogs.  Yesterday on Dog Show Poop I wrote up the Best In Show post for Saturday’s San Fernando Kennel Club Show, won by the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar.    Allie is the daughter of 2008’s Number One Herding Dog, CH Coventry Vanity Fair.  Allie’s Mom, Carley,  was also the Number Ten Dog All Breeds in 2008, winning 23 BIS and 106 Herding Groups.  It was the first BIS for Allie.

GCH CH Reece Afterhours The Buck Stops Here JH

However, Allie is not the only offspring of famous parents out this weekend. The German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Reece Afterhours The Buck Stops Here JH, wraps up the ten show, eleven day, Florida Classic in Brooksville FL today. Truman is the son of the winningest GWP in AKC history, GCH CH Ripsnorter’s Mt View Lookout. Scout was the Number Seven Dog All Breeds in 2010, winning 28 BIS and 105 Sporting groups. Truman is a multi BIS winner himself winning three all breed Bests and 41 Group top prizes in 2011.

CH RunningMtn Native Dancer

Still working her way through the classes is the Bearded Collie, Runningmtn Native Dancer, daughter of GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins, the top winning Beardie of all time. Roy has 75 career BIS to date. His daughter, Nakota, has collected three straight winners ribbons, all majors, and could finish her championship at today’s Tualatin Kennel Club Show in Portland OR.

Finally, we have a 9-12 month old class entry in today’s Oakland County Kennel Club show, the Scottish Terrier bitch puppy, Roundtown Everday Magic of Maryscot, daughter of 2009’s Number One Dog All Breeds, GCH CH Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot, known to her millions of fans as Sadie. Sadie also was the winner of the 2009 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship and the 2010 Westminster Kennel Club show.

I have written earlier that the original purpose of AKC dog shows was the evaluation of breeding stock. It is gratifying to see these new generations of dogs in the show ring, especially out of yesterday’s top winning bitches. And that’s today’s Back Story.
