Lately I feel like I have been going non-stop, traveling from show to show, shooting photos and showing dogs as well. So when I decided to make the journey to the East Coast for the Montgomery County weekend, I was hesitant. I didn’t really know how I felt about going.

At first I thought the trip would be just like any other assignment at the shows, but boy, was I wrong. Montgomery weekend was by far the high point of the many shows I’ve been to these past six-plus months. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to join the Best In Show Daily team in Pennsylvania. We saw old friends and met so many amazing new people. Even the rainy weather made it kind of fun!

At many of the shows I attend, I am often a one-man (OK, one-lady) operation, but at Montgomery I was able to work side-by-side with these two guys:

These two gentlemen are great examples of the wonderful people who participate in our dog show world. These men are so knowledgeable and kind, and they know how to enjoy a show in style! It was my pleasure to learn and watch them in action.

Along with being able to cover the shows alongside the Best In Show Daily guys, I was fortunate enough to meet many of those whose work inspires me in the dog show photography world. Looking back now on meeting these professionals, I feel like a star struck kid. But I was truly humbled to meet some of the most talented photographers in the dog show world today.

Among the group were Rhonda Cassidy and Mike McGuire of RC Photography, and the one and only Gay Glazbrook. I have enjoyed seeing their great work online and in print, and meeting them was just the cherry on top!

Overall, Montgomery 2012 was a wonderful, memorable week that will stick with me as one of my favorites of the year. As if the reasons above aren’t enough to convince you, I was able to see a lot of dogs that I don’t usually see on the West Coast. They really kept things interesting for this photographer, not only at Montgomery, but at Devon and Hatboro as well.

Thank you to everyone who made my first Montgomery weekend a special one!

If you were there, feel free to share your stories below and tell me your favorite part of the weekend!
