“I’m a very lucky man,” said Brad Slayton of Auburn, WA, of his marriage to Debbie Parsons. The couple met through their dogs and were married today at Madison Square Garden before a packed house that included fellow exhibitors, spectators and one of this year’s “biggest” Best of Breed winners.

Officiating at the ceremony was Cherilyn Frei, wife of David Frei, the “Voice of Westminster.”

By 4 o’clock, a throng of well-wishers had gathered to watch as Debbie, accompanied by her maid of honor Cathy Johnson, joined Brad and best man, Tony Carter, in the benching area of the Westminster show. The scene was, perhaps, a bit chaotic, but the spirit of the ceremony prevailed and the couple enjoyed their first kiss as husband and wife.

Debbie and Brad met in 2006 when she moved to the Seattle area with her three Tibetan Mastiffs. The new Mrs. Slayton said, “Since Tibetan Mastiffs are guardians, Brad had to work his way into my pack, and he did so in record time with a great deal of respect and love from all of the dogs.”

One of their dogs, GCh. Dreamcatcher Major Victory Of Loki, ‘Major,’ was enjoying his own big day. He was chosen by judge Theresa Hundt as the best of his breed from a field of six champions.

The ring win is icing on the Slaytons’ wedding cake. Debbie said, “For two people in love who are addicted to dogs, does it get any better than being married at Westminster?”

Yes, it does, but getting married at Westminster on Valentine’s Day, no less, is a good place to start.
