This month’s Around the Dog World gives you the to experience at the UK’s highest quality canine competition. The the Dog World/Eukanuba Pup of the Year and Champion Stakes Final the dogs on show have had to qualify through classes of hundreds at championship shows throughout the year, meaning each qualifier has had their work cut out just to be on the pink carpet at these finals.

Starting in the Pup of the Year Final where Geoff Corish was the judge, there was a never before seen in these finals, three all-breeds Best in Show winners among the finalists.

And moving up to the more established winners, the Eukanuba Champion Stakes Final where there were an incredible 13 Best in Show winners for the two secret judges to choose from.
The events were being held back to back for just the second time and the winner of both events – SPOILER ALERT – was Ch Soletrader Magic Mike the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen – the son of Ch Soletrader Peek A Boo – Jilly who was Best in Show at Crufts in 2013.

Emotions were incredibly high with tears from not only the winners Sara and Gavin Robertson but also many of the crown giving Magic Mike a standing ovation.

A simply incredible achievement in two of the most astounding fields of dogs we have seen at a dog show.

And what’s more, winning the Eukanuba Champion Stakes qualifes this young dog to compete at the Eukanuba World Challenge which is the be held at Crufts for the first time in 2017.

The Dog World/Eukanuba Pup of the Year Final was won by Magic Mike, and runner-up to him was the Shar Pei Witchgait Secret Keepsake with the BIS winning Bealge Dialynne Peter Piper up next, fourth was Giant Schanuzer Philoma Tempo with Burneze Billie On Air the West Highland White Terrier in fifth.

In the Eukanuba Champion Stakes standing beside the fifth place board was the Samoyed Ch Vandreem Imperial Cruz with fourth place going to last year’s third placed dog Australian Shepherd Dog Ch Hearthside Man of Mystery at Dialynne, Multi Ch Sh Ch Polcevera’s Ercole the Bracco Italiano was third and runner up to Mike the PBGV was Cocker Spaniel Sh Ch Veratey Vincenzo at Cassom.
