GCH CH Mt View’s Ripnsorter Silver Charm
AKC’s Number One Dog All Breeds

After a few weeks of small to average entries, fanciers were treated to entries approaching 2,000 dogs at the weekend shows in Romulus NY and Monroe MI. Our Top Four Dogs All Breeds took advantage of the larger entries to extend their leads on the rest of the Top Ten.

The dog that made the most of the big entries was the Number Four Dog, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting The Sky. Sky left Romulus with three big rosettes and 4,000 points. The Number One Dog, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, took advantage of both opportunities, collecting almost 600 points for a Group Three and Group One at the Romulus Thursday & Friday shows, before adjourning to Monroe MI to take both the big rosettes at the hometown Monroe Kennel Club’s two shows, bringing his four-day total to over 3,700 points.

The Number Two Dog, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, also spent all four days in Romulus. Peyton had to wait until day four to pick up his lone BIS of the week, but it was worth the wait. The win was worth 1,500 points, added to two big Sporting Group Ones & a Two, making the week’s tally over 2,400 points. The Number Three Dog, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, didn’t fare as well as the others, but her two days in Michigan still brought her almost 700 points.

Other Top Ten Dogs getting BIS wins were the Number Five Dog, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, who took home over 1,000 points at today’s Old Dominion Kennel Club of Virginia show in Millwood VA; the Number Six Dog, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, top dog at today’s Heart of the Plains Kennel Club show in Lubbock TX; and the Boxer, GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer, who grabbed the BIS at the Grand Valley Kennel Club Closer in Grand Junction CO.

GCH CH Stonehill Great Escape

Not all the wins this week went to top-ranked dogs. Nine of the BIS went to dogs not in the Top 100 Dog All Breeds. The one who caught my attention was the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Stonehill Great Escape. Stevie picked up his first BIS just last week at the Sunday show of the Chattanooga Kennel Club. He followed that breakout performance with BACK2BACK BIS at this weekend’s Rockford-Freeport Illinois Kennel Club shows. Many of our top-ranked dogs will be in suburban Philadelphia this week where the numbers will be even bigger than they were last week. I will be at the Hatboro Dog Club’s two shows in Wrightstown PA on Thursday & Friday, at the Devon Dog Show Association gig on Saturday in Ludwigs Corner PA, and at the Montgomery County Kennel Club’s all Terrier extravaganza in Blue Bell PA on Sunday. Stop by and say hello, and let me who you are watching. And that’s today’s Back Story.
