Look For These Dogs

As I await my plane to leave beautiful Palm Springs, Calif., I am going through the Kennel Club of Palm Springs catalog, making notes about the dogs I saw this weekend that I think are the ones I will be reporting on over at my blog, Dog Show Poop. First is from the Sporting Group, the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, BIS winner on day one. Dazzle & handler Bruce Schultz took home the largest prize of the weekend and I am confident they will continue their winning ways throughout the year.

GCH CH Aashtoria Wild Hunt Agenda with owner/handler Stuart McGraw

While the Whippet, GCH Starline’s Chanel, grabbed most of the attention this week, a lesser known dog caught my eye. The Borzoi, GCH CH Aashtoria Wild Hunt Hidden Agenda, finished Group 2 behind the Whippet both days. A majestic example of the breed, Casper and his young owner/handler, Stuart McGraw, are destined to become one of the most recognized couples of 2012.

Two Working Dogs dominated their Group this weekend and both are Dog Show Poop DOGS2WATCH, Sunday’s BIS winner, the Kuvazs, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, and the Boxer, GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer. Each had a Group 1 & 2. They finished 2011 as the Number Nine & 17 Dogs All Breeds. Look for them both to improve on that.

GCH CH Perrisblu Kennislain’s Chelsey

While there were no Terriers in the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds in 2011, this year I expect to see at least one, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Perrisblu Kennislain’s Chelsey. Chelsey and handler Bill McFadden finished the weekend with three Terrier Groups 1s and one Group 2. In the Toy Group I was pleased to see the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Royalist Ready to Reign, handled by Scot Sommer, add two Toy Groups & a Group 4 to his resume.

It doesn’t take a magician to predict the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, 2011′s Number Four Dog All Breeds, will likely stay in the Top Ten. Ally and handler Taffee McFadden took home two impressive Group 1s & two Group 2s. I also expect to be seeing more of the Bichon Frise, GCH CH PaRay’s Power & Privilege, and the Bulldog, GCH CH Itsa Brix, both of whom copped a Non-Sporting Group 1 this week. Finally, I love the no frills, all business Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Carben Copy If The Shoe Fits, who grabbed both the Group 1 prizes this weekend.

Some of these dogs will be part of the 10-show Florida Marathon and/or the Portland OR, four-show cluster. If you are able to attend one of these shows, you will get to say, “I remember the first time I saw ‘em.”

Billy I totally agree with you on the Borzoi shown by Stuart McGraw. Stuart is an very talented handler – one that ‘disappears’ and makes you look at the dog. And of course the dog is beautiful too.

I am so flattered that so many have appreciated “Casper”, the Borzoi that
I bred and happily co-own with the very talented handler, Stuart McGraw.
Casper is a breeder’s dream come true.
