Florida Finale, Day Five

Sunday, December 16, 2012

This is it, the last day of our 2012 season. By the end of tonight we will know who is Number One Dog All Breeds and who is the 2012 AKC/Eukanuba National Champion (AENC). We now know they won’t be one and the same as our Top Two Dogs All Breeds were not here yesterday to compete for the AENC. The German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, was in Allentown PA taking the Sporting Group at the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club show. The English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, was doing the same in Cleveland at the day two show of the Richland Kennel Club.

8:00 AM

I’m starting today at Ann Ingram’s ring to watch her 42 Boxers. The first three days here in Orlando, a relative newcomer has dominated the breed. The Japanese-bred CH Hi-Tech The King Of Sherry Shoot JP has been in Canada, but is now here in the US with handler Diego Fernando Garcia, who had the top Boxer in 2011, GCH H Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream. The handsome 3-year-old dog won the breed at all three warmups to the AENC, capping it with a Group 1 at Friday’s Central Florida show. However, AENC is known for surprises, and today’s breed winner was CH Draco’s Bonfire.

10:00 AM

Nowhere in the hall is the competition more fierce than in Harry O’Donohue’s Smooth Fox Terrier ring. Standing side by side with their current hopefuls were handlers Amy Booth and Eddie Boyes, who campaigned two terrific Smooths to the top of the rankings in 2010. However, the breed would go to the Smooth Fox, GCH CH Wedigit Paparazzi.

11:30 AM

Judge O’Donohue made short work of his four Irish Terriers, choosing GCH CH Kell’s Touch of Fleet St as his Best of Breed. Things were a bit more complicated with the Kerry Blue Terriers which drew 22 entries. His BOB was the BIS winning GCH CH Class Act by Hallsblu.

1:00 PM

I don’t often to get to see an entry of 18 Giant Schnauzers, but that’s what Wyoma Clouss had today, including two BIS winners. However, today’s Best of Breed was a 2-year-old bitch from Canada, CH Lowdown Remys Giirl v Ardenhout.
