Junior Handler Sets Good Example, plus Overdue for a Best in Show

Becker Reep is a talented junior handler who’s caught the attention of DFR Blogger Kayla Bertagnolli. The 13-year-old from North Carolina is passionate about showing his Newfoundland in both juniors and in breed, but he’s just as focused on his schoolwork and growing his business. Meet a young man who’s setting a terrific example for participation in the dog sport.

Blogger-in-Chief Billy Wheeler is wondering why dogs of certain breeds have yet to win an all-breed Best in Show this year. Group wins have been awarded to many of the lesser-known breeds, but for many the red, white and blue rosette has remained elusive. Today Billy highlights the breeds that are overdue for a Best in Show.

Best In Show Daily invites you to participate in our latest online poll. Each week we’re asking readers to share their opinions on a topic of interest to breeders, exhibitors and dog lovers everywhere. This week we’d like to know what you think is the best way to counter attacks on AKC and purebred dog breeders. To participate in our poll, go directly to the right-hand column of our home page at www.bestinshowdaily.com. Let us know what you think!

Overdue for a Best in Show
By Billy Wheeler

My regular readers know that I am a cheerleader for what I will call our endangered breeds. These are the AKC-recognized breeds which log fewer than 200 registrations a year. While collecting results from this past weekend, I was delighted to find a Best in Show by an Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeen’s Under The Influence, a breed which rarely gets recognized. more
