A New Number One Dog All Breeds!

We have a new Number One Dog All Breeds. The German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, overtook the Doberman Pinscher, GCH Ch Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, with a Best in Show at Sunday’s big Trenton Kennel Club show in West Windsor Township, NJ.

Oakley and handler Phil Booth had been tirelessly pursuing the Doberman, FiFi, and breeder-owner/handler Jocelyn Mullins for the past several weeks, blanketing the U.S. in search of the wins needed. In the past month, Oakley has been in Glendale, AZ, Grove, OK, Crown Point, IN, City of Industry, CA, Bossier City, LA, and West Windsor Township, collecting BIS and big Sporting Group wins. Few dogs this year have been as traveled, or as successful as Oakley.  Phil is one of the best strategists I have met in the dog game. Lots of people have attempted national campaigns. In a future post I will outline what I would do if I had unlimited resources and a worthy dog. For me it’s a parlor game for a cocktail hour with hard core dog people. For Phil it is a project underway.

I have been telling everyone who would listen that I think this is the most competitive season I can remember. The competition had not been limited to our Top Two, but occurs throughout the Top Twenty Dogs and beyond.  Just this weekend, the Number Three Dog, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, picked up his fourth consecutive National Specialty win, a BIS and an additional Working Group One, over the Number One Working Dog, the Doberman, FiFi.

Our Top Two Toy Dogs continue to keep things interesting as both the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, and the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, both posted BIS this weekend. The MinPin, Classie, in Georgia, and the Affenpinscher, Joey, today in New Jersey at the Trenton Kennel Club’s Day Two show.

Two dogs that continue to amaze me with their meteoric rise through the rankings are the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch. Sky, the Wire on fire, grabbed the week’s second biggest prize, Saturday’s Bucks County Kennel Club show, with better than 2,200 dogs entered, while the GSD, Capi, doubled down, taking two of the BIS in Missouri this weekend.

You can get show results at a lot of sites.  Only here on Best In Show Daily and on Dog Show Poop will you get The Back Story.
