One year ago today, the Best In Show Daily newsletter began arriving at the inboxes of a few hundred U.S. fanciers. Our first edition introduced early subscribers to our fledgling team of editors, each a devoted dog person with a passion for the sport and a desire to deliver quality content in an interactive medium. Since then, Christi, Billy, Susan, Kayla and I have produced more than a thousand feature articles, blogs and show reports, each highlighting various aspects of the wonderful world of dogs.
In our first 12 months, we expanded our coverage of the dog sport through several contributing writers and photographers, including reports from the European show scene. Our Forums allow readers to share their thoughts on a wide array of dog-related topics, and our photo galleries provide a visual record of shows large and small. Advertisers are especially pleased with the options available through our photo and video showcases, and Dog Show Results has become the go-to site for the latest reports from ringside.
Through our website and Facebook page, we’ve gotten to know many of the tens of thousands of readers who appreciate our effort to cover the dog world. Today’s BISD audience has become an international amalgam of breeders, judges, handlers, exhibitors and pet owners. Like you, they’re interested in a broad range of subjects, from legislative updates and performance events to interviews with leading veterinary professionals and the sport’s famous names. We plan to continue our coverage in these areas and look forward to expanding our scope by welcoming writers with an experienced point-of-view.
Of course, we’re all enthusiastic about the 2013 show season, and we hope to see you at some of the all-breed, limited-breed and specialty shows during our second year together.
As always, we’re happy to hear from you.
