The AKC and AKC Companion Animal Recovery have donated $3,000 worth of supplies in Hurricane Sandy relief efforts so far.
The first floor of the Woodbridge Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center in Sewaren, NJ, was submerged in more than five feet of water after the hurricane and the shelter lost many supplies due to water damage. We sent collars, leashes, pet beds, cage bedding, dog and cat food, and cleaning supplies to help replenish their stock. St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ will also receive 100 AKC blankets to help pets cope with the dropping temperatures.
We continue to stand ready to help other non-profit temporary shelters or rescue groups in need that are housing displaced pets as a result of Hurricane Sandy. If you need assistance, or know of a shelter or rescue group that does, please contact us via AKC’s Facebook page at: www.Facebook.com/Americankennelclub or contact Stephanie Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org or 404-432-8442.
