Around the Rings This Weekend

GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari

There are still show reports coming in from around the country, but I have a few things that I think might interest you today. The Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, made the race for Number One Toy Dog a virtual tie by picking up three consecutive BISs on Long Island this weekend, both shows of the Ladies’ Kennel Association pf America in Oyster Bay and today’s Long Island Kennel Club show in Bethpage. My numbers have the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, and the Affenpinscher, Joey, less than 100 points apart.

Posting BACK2BACK BISs this weekend were the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Bar-None Fabulosity, and the Pug, CH Hill Country’s Tag I’m It. The Mini Poodle, Sugar Baby, picked up the bookends in Manassas, VA, at the Mattaponi Kennel Club shows. Sugar Baby and breeder/handler Kaz Hosaka have quietly worked their way up to the Number Four Non-Sporting Dog spot.

The Standard Poodle, Amelia, picked up her two big rosettes in Cortez, CO, at the Durango Kennel Club’s Saturday and Sunday shows. I’m continuously amazed at how many great Standard Poodles we have out every year. Amelia now has two BISs and six Non-Sporting Groups this year. The Pug Tag (or JJ to his best friends) picked up his first two BISs at the Wyoming Valley Kennel Club’s weekend in Alexander, NY. Tag finished his championship at just seven months of age and now has two BIS at 13 months old. That’s a pretty heady start.

Joey was not the only Top Ten Dog to register a Best in Show this week. The Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Silver Charm, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, all have checked in with BIS wins.

Remember you can get the latest wins in a lot of places, but you can only get the latest standings on Dog Show Poop and The Back Story here on Best In Show Daily.
