By the Numbers, plus a Favorite Sketch

From California to the Carolinas and Wisconsin to Washington State, exhibitors will be heading this weekend to a considerable number of all-breed shows across the U.S. Blogger-in-Chief Billy Wheeler takes a look at the entries around the country (Alaska anyone?) to find out where the competition is likely to be stiff and the quality deep.

A sketch given to me by my niece several years ago is a colorful reminder of life’s simple pleasures. Though crudely drawn, the artwork demonstrates a clear point of view about the relationship between two people and one very special Sussex Spaniel. See for yourself how a 6-year-old expresses her love for dogs.

This is true of all art, of course, but when a 6—year-old represents Fido, it can certainly leave parents scratching their heads. more

I don’t know about you, but I’m overwhelmed by the numbers in my life. I still am trying to figure out how it is I have access to over 400 channels, yet there is nothing worth watching on TV. And when did it become necessary to use a calculator in the kitchen? Life was so much easier before I had to count calories, carbs and milligrams of salt. more
