Follow These First Timers

While most of the attention these past few weeks has been on the rivalry between our Top Two Dogs All Breeds, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, and the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, we should remember that during the last quarter of the year we often see some breakout performances. Here are a few we noticed this weekend.

GCH CH Equinox The Edge of Reason RE

The Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Equinox The Edge of Reason RE, picked up his first ever BIS Saturday at the South Dade Kennel Club show in Davie FL. Cliff has only been out with handler David Stout since mid-October, but has placed in the Herding Group seven out of seven appearances and got the BIS in only his second appearance in the final ring.

The Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression De Matisse, recently joined the handling team of Michelle and Michael Scott, and has spent the last two weekends collecting four Working Group Ones, an RBIS, and the BIS at yesterday’s Savannah Kennel Club show in that Georgia city.

GCH CH High Mountain Everso in Command

In Kankakee IL we had two first timers add the title of Best In Show Winner to their names. On Saturday the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH High Mountain Everso In Command, was Ralph Lemke’s BIS at the day one show of the Kanakakee Valley Kennel Club. Cameron’s first BIS in eight finals this year follows an RBIS last weekend.

GCH CH Nightline’s Viking at Tanglewood

The Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Nightline Viking At Tanglewood, was Steve Hayden’s top pick at the KVKC’s day two show on Sunday. It was the 18-month-old Giant’s first BIS in six final tries. Three of those finals have come in the last two weekends.

So check out the last few shows of the season. You may get a glimpse at the stars of next year. And that’s today’s Back Story.
