How About a Dog Show AND Yosemite?

Upper Yosemite Falls

Once again exhibitors & spectators will have several options this week to see the best that AKC has to offer. If you have the time and interest, you will have an opportunity to take in one of the four show clusters spread around the U.S.

Here in the South, it’s happening starting Thursday in Columbiana, AL, 30 miles south of Birmingham, all thanks to the Tuscaloosa Kennel Club & the Birmingham Kennel Club. In the Great Plains states, the Kansas Toy Dog Club will kick it off Thursday in Valley City for the four all- breed shows hosted by the Salina Kennel Club, the Wichita Kennel Club & the Hutchinson Kennel Club. The Arizona Toy Dog Fanciers will do the same for the Kachina Kennel Club & the Arrowhead Kennel Club in Glendale, AZ.

The rest of our offerings are of the two-show, Saturday-Sunday persuasion. If you are in New England, look in on the Troy Kennel Club & the Trap Falls Kennel Club in West Springfield, MA. Mid-Atlantic residents will choose between the Shenandoah Valley Kennel Club in Harrisonburg, VA, or the Piedmont Kennel Club Charlotte, NC. Floridians will enjoy a weekend with the Greater Orange Park Dog Club in Elkton.

In the Great Lakes region, the choice is between the Saginaw Valley Kennel Club in Birch Run, MI, or the Kennel Club Of Yorkville, Illinois, in De Kalb. In Texas it’s the San Jacinto Kennel Club in Crosby unless you want to travel the 650 miles to the Kansas shows. You won’t get the big numbers they have in Arizona in Merced, CA, but the Yosemite Kennel Club’s two shows give you an excuse to visit one of the most magnificent spots on the planet.

Whether it’s the bucolic Shenandoah Valley or the majestic peaks of Yosemite, the dogs will be beautiful wherever you take in an AKC show. And that’s today’s Back Story.
