This week the IFSS announced that Helen Lundberg has been voted as President of the International Federation of Sleddog Sports. Anne McIntyre has been voted to the position of Vice President of Sport.
Helen and Anne are no strangers to the world of sleddog sports. Helen has raced very successfully alongside her husband Egil Ellis for many years. Based in Sweden originally, and relocating to Alaska, Helen has been the editor of the ISDRA magazine, Dog and Driver for several years. She also writes articles for a Swedish sleddog magazine. Helen held the position of vice president of sport with the IFSS, during which time she was one of the main organizers of the enormously successful hosting of the World Championships on snow, held in Alaska this past February and March, with her efforts attracting competitors and media from all over the world.
Anne McIntyre is based in Australia, and through her work in recent years on the Council of the IFSS, and as Chairperson of the World Cup committee, Anne has been responsible for the continued growth of the sport in Oceania and Worldwide, with her consistent support and encouragement of the World Cup events which have seen a considerable increase in the number of events under her direction and guidance. Anne has also been responsible for hosting World Cup events in Australia, with the attendance of world champion athletes to the events. Anne is a certified IFSS race judge and a qualified doping control officer, and also holds a position on the IFSS Doping Control Committee.
The experience and the knowledge of both Helen and Anne will certainly be a welcome asset in their new positions of President and Vice President of Sport, respectively, in the IFSS.
With Helen in her new role as President of the IFSS, and Anne as the Vice President of Sport, the IFSS can be assured of further successes in the sport, and the continued progress towards the goals of the IFSS for the future.
The members and Council of the International Federation of Sleddog Sports welcome Helen and Anne to their new Council positions, and look forward to the continued successes and growth of sleddog sports all over the world.
