Introducing the 2012 AKC Agility World Team

The time has come for one of agility’s biggest events of the year! That’s right, starting today the 2012 FCI Agility World Championship will commence in the Czech Republic, where 38 countries are expected to compete for the big prize. The opening ceremony takes place today, and the event ends on Sunday, October 7, with small (S), medium (M) and large (L) individual agility runs, then the final ceremony.

This year the event will have live streaming video available online. Unfortunately, it isn’t free. But the good news is that it’s not too expensive, and if you know someone there or you’re a diehard agility person, it’s totally worth it! To learn more about the live stream, you can get all of the details and create an account here.

Below is the schedule of events happening October 4 through 7, 2012:

  • Thursday, October 4 – Veterinary inspection, training, opening ceremony, Team Jumping L
  • Friday, October 5 – Team Jumping S/M, Team Agility L/M.
  • Saturday, October 6 – Jumping Individual S/M/L, Team Agility S
  • Sunday, October 7 – Agility Individual S/M/L,final ceremony

As you read this, Team USA is settled into the Czech Republic. They have been training hard in order to do their best and represent the USA. The 15-person/dog team is made up of three smaller teams of small, medium and large dogs. You can see a complete team list here.

The 2012 AKC Agility World Team.

If you haven’t noticed, one of the team members this year is Tori Self and her dog Rev! This past spring, right after tryouts for the World Team, Tori was kind enough to share with us a more personal look into the agility world and what it means to her. I was blown away by Tori’s outlook on life, her strength, her passion and how she got to where she is today! If you are an agility lover, I highly recommend you get to know this girl: read her blog, follow her on Instagram, and more! I have Tori to thank for getting me interested in the agility world, and I wish her the best of luck this week and with whatever may come next!

On that note, you can support our USA Agility World Team in many ways. At the top of my list is going to the team store and purchasing this not only attractive, but comfortable, shirt!

You can catch me at local shows wearing this shirt and supporting our World Agility Team.

You can support the team in your own way too! Let’s get the ball rollin’ by sending messages to anyone on the team. I think I can speak for everyone when I say I can’t wait to see what this week brings. Good luck to everyone on the team!

And don’t forget, Dogs Freakin’ Rule!
