It’s Tight at the Top

Things are starting to get really tight amongst our Top Twenty Dogs All Breeds. After three weeks of our Top Two collecting three or four BIS apiece each set, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, finished his five-day stretch with one top prize, and the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, finished his five days with none. Nonetheless, the Springer, Peyton, managed to collect a sufficient number of Sporting Group Ones & Twos to pull within 200 points of the Number One Dog, the GWP, Oakley.

However, four of our Top Ten managed to collect two BIS apiece. The Number Three Dog, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, has completed three of four shows in Wisconsin and has two big rosettes to show for it. Up in the Pacific Northwest, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, secured her Number Four ranking with consecutive wins at the Nisqually Kennel Club shows in Lacy WA. The Number Five Dog, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, made the most of his five-day stay in Ballston Spa NY, winning the Toy Group every day and leaving with two BIS and two RBIS. Our Number Six Dog, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, joined the BACK2BACK BIS club this weekend, with consecutive wins at the Kennel Club of Freeborn County Minnesota’s two shows in Albert Lea MN.

As impressive as all the above wins were, none was sufficient enough to change our standings. However, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, copped a big rosette on Saturday at the Cudahy Kennel Club’s day two show in South Milwaukee, WI, moving up into the Number Seven spot. Three dogs in the bottom half of our Top Twenty also scored BISs this weekend. The Number 13 Dog, the country’s Number One Herding Dog, the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch, got his BIS on Friday at the Penn Ridge Kennel Club’s opener in Harrisburg PA. The Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH D’s Remember When, picked up his on Thursday in Ballston Spa at the Glen Falls Kennel Club show. Sunday in Ballston Spa, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator was Best in Show at the Bennington County Kennel Club show. The win was good enough to put the Harrier, Chet, back in the Top Twenty.

The coming week will bring big numbers, and once again we will have the opportunity for some game-changing performances. Remember, we bring you more than the box scores here on Best In Show Daily and on my site, Dog Show Poop. Check back with me Wednesday, and I will give you a peek at this coming week’s numbers and a detailed look at the entry in Greeley CO, where I will be. And that’s today’s Back Story.
