I am finding that the aftermath of a big wedding is a bit like having the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade routed through your home. I will split my time today between the Dog Show Poop Monday Morning Mop Up and visiting wedding vendors to drop off a variety of wedding accoutrement. As I put the wedding behind me, I can look forward to the rest of the year. Many of my upcoming Back Stories will focus on the year’s big closer, the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship in Orlando FL on December 15th & 16th . I am predicting that the show will be the largest in the series and the biggest this year. Entries close this Wednesday, November 14th, at 3:00 PM CST.
However, let me give you this quick and dirty report on how our Top Ten fared this past week. Nine of our Top Ten Dogs managed to pick up at least one BIS. The race between our Top Two, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, and English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, remains close with the GWP increasing his lead slightly with two BIS this past week while the Springer, Peyton, collected one big rosette. Oakley was in Kalamazoo MI for four days along with the Number Three Dog, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, and the Number Eight Dog, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, each of whom picked up a BIS during the four-day set.
The Springer, Peyton, split his time between Salisbury MD and Pueblo CO where he picked up the BIS at Saturday’s Southern Colorado Kennel Club show. The Number Seven Dog, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, was also in Pueblo, taking the top prize on Sunday. AKC’s Number Five & Ten Dogs, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, and the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, stayed in Maryland for the full five days, each taking home a BIS. The Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare picked up her BIS on Saturday at the Furniture City Kennel Club show in Winston-Salem NC.
The last of our Top Ten are in Tucson AZ, where the Number Four Dog, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, and the Number Nine Dog , the Boxer, GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer, have spent the last three days. The Wire, Sky, has two BIS so far, while the Boxer, Danny is hoping to score the week’s last available BIS at today’s Madera Canyon Kennel Club show. Danny, and the Foxhound, Jewel, are separated by less than 300 points. Anything less than a BIS today for Danny will allow the Jewel to claim the Number Nine spot for herself.
The race this year shows every indication of being decided the final week of 2012. We will be the first to tell you how it comes out. And that is today’s Back Story.
