Memories of Westminsters Past, Breed Matchups, plus Progressive Dog Club

In his first article for Best In Show Daily, Senior Editor Bo Bengtson introduces readers to some of the more notable Westminster winners and the legendary figures associated with their careers. A victory at the Garden has always granted immortality to the winner, and it gives bragging rights to individuals with even the slightest connection to the winning dog. Meet a few of the iconic canines whose names represent one of the dog sport’s highest achievements.

The Toy dogs graced the pavilion level at New York’s Hotel Pennsylvania yesterday, braving the wintry weather to compete at one of several limited-breed and specialty shows taking place in the tri-state area this weekend. In Senior Editor Christi McDonald’s report, find out the names of the diminutive dogs that placed first through fourth under judge Charlotte Patterson.

All eyes will be on the Group and Best in Show rings at this year’s Westminster, of course, but Billy Wheeler reminds readers of the excitement to be found at the breed level. Competition is particularly stiff in several breeds, from the always sensational Boxers and Standard Poodles to some familial matchups including a trio of Irish Water Spaniel litter sisters. Find out in which rings our Blogger-in-Chief expects the judges to find an overabundance of quality.

Best In Show Daily will be in the New York metro area all weekend long covering the events at the Meadowlands Exposition Center and the Hotel Pennsylvania. If you see Bo, Billy, Susan, Kayla or me at either location, please be sure to introduce yourself (and don’t hesitate to ask to have a picture taken). We look forward to seeing you and your dogs.
