Newfoundlands Take to Rescue Like Fish to Water

Some dogs jump, tunnel or track another animals’ scent during performance trials. Others rescue people. Dogs like Beacon, Buoy and Sonar do anyway.

They belong to Christie Smith, a landscaper who lives in Manakin, Va., and competes with her three dogs in Newfoundland Club of America water rescue trials.

The 137th Kennel Club of Philadelphia Dog Show and the 12th National Dog Show went off beautifully. We had an entry of 1580 dogs of 179 breeds. The large spectator attendance of 10,000 adults and children were present to enjoy the event.

NEW YORK, NY (November 26, 2013) – Thousands of dogs will have year-end competition opportunities in a variety of world-class dog sporting events on December 10-15, 2013 in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center. The week, culminating with the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, tops all other dog events in the nation with more than 16,300 combined entries.
