Oklahoma City Kennel Club

Day Three, Saturday, June 30, 2012

GCH CH Vyrtuous Command Performance

I’m starting this morning with Terry Carter’s entry of 31 Rhodesian Ridgebacks, a breed that exudes unbridled athleticism. Judge Carter went over her eight specials with great care before selecting GCH CH Vyrtuous Command Performance as her Best of Breed.

GCH CH Renaissance Pink Chacha

Judge Carter also drew an outstanding entry of 14 Vizslas, including six specials. The trademark cinnamon color is one of the breed’s most identifiable breed characteristics. Today’s breed winner was GCH CH Renaissance Pink Chacha.

GCH CH Fieldfine’s Pure Gold CGC TDI

Next up for Judge Carter were 10 German Shorthaired Pointers, half in the Best of Breed. GSPs haven’t the visibility their wirehaired brethren seem to get, but a more able gun dog is hard to find. The one Elaine Mathis liked best was GCH CH Fieldfine’s Pure Gold CGC TDI.

10:15 a.m.

GCH CH Klassebulls King Louie

It is my practice when I visit a ring to find a breeder/owner to sit by so I can ask questions. While I have been in the dog game 40-something years, I readily admit that I only know a lot about a few breeds. Most breeds I still have much to learn about. So when I visited Bradley Jenkins’ ring to watch him judge 39 French Bulldogs, I chose to sit next to Pamela Kelley, who did give me some pointers. She obviously knew what she was talking about as her GCH CH Klassebulls King Louie was judge Jenkins’ Best of Breed.
