PCA Foundation Seminar Featuring Myra Savant Harris

I had the pleasure of attending the WHELPING AND PUPPY INTENSIVE CARE Seminar, presented by Myra Savant Harris, RN. Myra’s keen wit and passion as she spoke, really set the tone. I knew we were in for a very special day. Myra shared a host of solutions, all well-honed over the years to enhance her breeding/whelping outcomes. Several techniques/positions were demonstrated using stuffed toys. An effective, if not amusing way to make it all come alive. Myra fielded a wide variety of questions, from timing ovulation, to c-sections and fading puppies. By the end of the day, audience members expressed appreciation for such an informative day and many planned to try a newly learned skill or idea.

Myra’s instructional books (with videos), her Puppy Kits, and other helpful devices were available for purchase throughout the seminar. Items are also available via her online store. Her convenient “Puppy Kits” caught my eye, and I couldn’t resist purchasing a kit for myself. Having heard Myra speak, I’ve now added all three of her books to my reading list. Perhaps the best deal going…this seminar was completely free to attendees, thanks to the generosity of the PCA Foundation. A great educational opportunity and worthwhile time spent at the National.

(Excerpt from PCA website – Myra Savant Harris, RN. Although she spent many years as a labor/delivery and neonatal ICU nurse, assisting in literally hundreds of human births, Myra Savant Harris found herself intimidated by the process of whelping her first few litters of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Unlike women, of course, bitches can’t talk. But working over the years with her reproductive-specialist veterinarian and sharing experiences with other breeders, Savant Harris became skilled at understanding the information bitches and newborn puppies give us, gaining expertise in managing gestation and whelping, caring for newborns and helping puppies in distress. Today she is a popular speaker and author and provides online support for breeders everywhere. Join us for a fun and informative day offering something for everyone, whether you are an experienced breeder or planning your very first litter.) http://www.myrasavantharris.com/index.php/about
