Poodles that Retrieve and a Secret Escape

“The Poodle was originally developed in Germany as a water retriever, and the Standard is the original size, used to locate game and retrieve shot birds on land and water.” So writes Senior Editor Christi McDonald in her introduction to Joyce Carelli’s report on this year’s Poodle Club of America Retriever Hunting Test and Working Tests. Discover that many Poodles still retain their hunting instinct, while meeting the dogs and their owners who proved it last month at Anatidae Farm in Rhodesdale, Md.

Kayla Bertagnolli shares her recent weekend at her local Utah shows with DFR readers today and reviews some of the reasons why competition and camaraderie can be the perfect antidote to the inevitable stresses of life.
