Puppy Lovin’ My Beagles

Let me just start off by asking, “Who doesn’t love puppies?”

Puppies are so cute. Sometimes I wish they could just stay little fluffy balls of energy forever. Whenever I see a puppy, it automatically puts a smile on my face and just makes me say “Aaaaaaw!”

Is there a puppy alive that isn’t adorable?

For as long as I can remember, we’ve had puppies around the house. They’ve always been a part of my family life and are a lot of fun to care for as they grow. When it’s time for them to go to their new homes, some go to other show homes and some get to live out their days with loving families as pets. People always ask me, “How can you say goodbye?” I just say that when you breed dogs, that’s how it goes.

Watching puppies go when I was younger was so hard and now, occasionally, there are some tough ones to watch as they leave the house. I have to remember to be less selfish – I can’t keep every one!

Beagles – my breed – are now the number three most popular dog in America! They’re right behind the German Shepherd and the most popular, the Labrador. With so many larger breeds being popular these days, I’d have to say that third place isn’t too shabby!

So why are Beagles so popular?

I think it has something to do with their versatility. Beagles have a merry spirit that makes them a wonderful family pet. They’ve got keen hunting skills and a natural ability to enjoy other dogs’ company. Not to mention their coat care is easier than it is for many other breeds. Their compact size makes them ideal for just about everyone, and they really are one of the dogs that can fit into almost anyone’s lifestyle.

Oh, have I mentioned that Beagles are pretty darn cute?

In my everyday life, I look at things in a visual sense. Whether I’m taking photos, picking out an outfit or looking at puppies, I initially go toward what pleases my eye. With puppies – not only Beagle puppies – I do the same thing. When we have a litter at home, my visual sense heads right to the plump, open-marked little cutie in the group.

With Beagles, there’s so much in the whelping box to choose from. Their houndy markings are one-of-a-kind. Every puppy is unique! I think this is one of the reasons that a wide variety of people can enjoy this breed.

The most famous Beagle of all, of course, is Snoopy. The lovable cartoon character has always looked handsome in black and white, but the breed comes in a wide variety of “true hound colors,” including black tan & white, lemon & white and red, to name just a few. I can’t help but fall in love with all of them!

Beagle puppies – of any color – will always have a place in my world. I can never get enough of their comedic curiosity, with just the right amount of mischief thrown in.

In a sense, puppy love is a kind of medicine. Puppies don’t have a care in the world and with one kiss from their little lips you can have a stress-free moment that leaves you smiling – just like me.

Puppies are too freakin’ cute!!! Just another reason I think Dogs Freakin’ Rule!

Everyone should know that Kayla is right! And might I add to the question “is there a puppy alive that isn’t adorable?” and say I’d there a BEAGLE puppy alive that isn’t more adorable than all the puppies?

I go right with Kayla on the selection process. While its important to pay attention to the parts of a dog, it’s equally as important the pup looks good from far away: the sum of its parts. It makes sense to me that the pup that stood out from day one wouldn’t be a good choice. If he stands out in a litter of great puppies, he’s most likely going to stand out to the judge too.
