GCH CH Mt View's Ripnsorter Silver Charm collected his 100th career BIS this weekend.

GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm collected his 100th career BIS this weekend.

We had far fewer shows this week than last, just 17 all-breed shows in six locations. Last week there were 43 all breeds in 15 venues. The fewer shows meant larger entries and more of our top-ranked dogs in the same show hall.

If you’ve been following Best In Show Daily and my blog, Dog Show Poop, you know that our Top Two Dogs, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, and the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, had a very good week at the Reliant Series of Dog Shows in Houston. Sky came home with four Terrier Groups and Saturday’s big BIS. Matisse packed up three Group Ones and two BIS rosettes before heading back east. Sky still maintains a 9,000-point lead, but Matisse now has 10 more big rosettes than Sky. Sky and Matisse were not the only of our Top Ten to have a good weekend. The Number Six Dog, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, picked up back2back BIS the first two days of the four-day stop in Centre Hall PA.

Meanwhile 2012’s Number One Dog, the current Number Four Dog, the German Wirehaired Pointer, Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, became the third dog this year to hit the 100 Bests in Show milestone. Oakley and handler Phil Booth collected their BIS at Saturday’s Paper Cities Kennel Club show in Rothschild WI. Oakley also holds the record for most BIS by a German Wirehaired Pointer. If you have seen my Monday Morning Mop Up over on DSP, you know there were also big numbers in the Pacific Northwest at the Portland Kennel Club shows in that Oregon ity. The big points went to the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Tiburon Arsenal, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Woodstock’s Belle Starr.

Even though there were fewer shows this week, they were arrayed in a leisurely fashion so fanciers could make the most of the offerings. The four-day set in Stockton CA is still going on. Check with us this evening on DSP, and we will have those results for you. And that’s today’s Back Story.
