Spider Bites Are Tricky, plus Great Western Juniors

“Although most dogs can withstand a spider bite without much consequence, there’s no use asking for it.” So says Editor Susan Chaney in her report on North America’s most venomous arachnids. Susan interviews a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care to learn about the proper treatment for a dog suspected of being bitten by a spider.

DFR Blogger Kayla Bertagnolli was impressed with the junior handlers at the Great Western Terrier Association show this year despite fewer class entries. Terriers are well known for delivering show-stopping performances, so it’s curious that they’re not seen more often in the Junior Showmanship ring. Meet some of the youngsters who prove that a Terrier can be the perfect juniors dog.
