Sunday at the Hotel Pennsylvania

New York is, well, New York, even more so during Westminster. I stopped by the Hotel Pennsylvania on Sunday to take in the New York Metro Specialties hosted by the Knickerbocker Dachshund Club, the Meadowlands Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, the Chihuahua Club Of Greater New, the American Chinese Crested Club, the Empire Miniature Pinscher Club Of Greater New York, the Pug Dog Club Of Greater New York, the Papillon Club Of America, the Shih Tzu Club Of Northern New Jersey, the Boston Terrier Club Of New York, & the French Bulldog Club Of America.

The glamour of these events is derived from the entries and the gallery not form the location which reminds one of the Penguin’s lair in the Batman movies, a low ceiling loft, with multiple view obstructing pillars, accessed by a maze of vendors, escalators, & backstairs. Nonetheless, once one makes it into the room and finds a vantage point from which to see the rings, the flaws of the venue disappear behind the gathering of so many fine dogs.

The day ended with several owner/handled dogs doing well including the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Rattlebridge Cyber Dawn, shown by breeder/owner Meredith Johnson, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, shown by breeder/owner, Gloria Johnson, & the French Bulldog, CH Sto-Rob’s Mini cooper, shown by owner Daphne Goodine, all winning their breed specialties.

Check back early tomorrow. I will check in with you more than once in the day to give you my take on what’s going on at the world’s most interesting dog show, the Westminster Kennel Club show.  Don’t forget that to join me at the Best In Show Daily/Dog Show Poop Garden Party, here at 8:00 PM EST on Monday & Tuesdlive chat during the evening judging.  And that’s today’s Back Story.
