Surprise, Surprise!

GCH DC Hallam's Ethan Ramel MC LCX

Today was a day full of surprises. I’m not sure you can call them upsets, but there were plenty of dogs with multiple BIS before their name beaten by dogs who had received their first big rosette. Among the surprises was in Pharaoh Hounds where the winnignest Pharaoh, in history, GCH CH Northgate’s As You Like It , failed to get his chance at a Westminster BIS after being defeated by GCH DC Hallam’s Ethan Ramel MC LCX, who is a BIS winner and winner of the breed here in 2011. Congratulations to breeders/owners Dominic Carota & Stephen Sipperly, co-breeders Linda Witt & Nancy Sowerbutts, and handler Stacy Snyder-Work.

DOG2WATCH & multi BIS winner, the Number One Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Tails of Mystery, went home with a Best of Opposite Sex behind GCH C-Myste Baledwr Free To Disagree, a multiple group winner. Congratulations to breeders/owners Amanda Katasse & Carolyn Cannon and co-breeder Jennifer Kramer.

CH Hum'Nbird Ice Lily

The Number One Pembroke Welsh Corgi, multi-BIS winner, GCH CH Dalarno Nite Song At Morningstar , also took the BOS behind BOB CH Hum’Nbird Ice Lily. Our congratulations to breeder/owner Hum’Nbird Ice Lily.

GCH CH Vetset Kate Winsit

However, the biggest surprise was in the Standard Poodle ring, where the most anticipated face off of the show occurred as last year’s Number Four Dog, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Number Six Dog, GCH CH Jaset’s London, met, their first meeting since the former, Ally, went BOB last year at Westminster. London was the 201 AKC/Eukanuba National Champion and has eight BIS already this year, but it was not to be his year this year either as he also settled for a BOS award, behind, not the white bitch, Ally, but behind the black bitch, GCH CH Vetset Kate Winsit. Brava to breeder/owner Dr Elly Holowaychuk.

You do recall we told you not to bet the lunch money. And that’s today’s Back Story. Don’t forget to join our Garden Party chat room tonight at 8:00 EST.
