The Art and Life of Matilda Lotz, plus Kenneling the Houseguests

Senior Editor Christi McDonald features a painting from the AKC Museum of the Dog by American painter Matilda Lotz. “At the Garden Gate” attests to the artist’s considerable skill at canine portraiture. Find out about the life and work of the Tennessee daughter of German immigrants who studied in Paris and became a sought-after figure painter with royal commissions in Europe.

Blogger-in-Chief Billy Wheeler has opened his home to two-legged houseguests for the past several weeks. In today’s lighthearted Back Story, he reflects on the joy and folly of entertaining the extended human family in a doggie household. Find out how Billy answers the question, “Can I kennel the guests?”

Many of this year’s top show dogs are featured in their own beautiful mini-websites on Best In Show Daily. Simply click on a banner ad to see the dog’s up-to-date show history, plus a slide show of photos that reveals exactly why it’s a top dog.
