The First One Hundred Days and a Favorite Lady
In The Back Story today, Master Blogger Billy Wheeler celebrates a centennial of sorts. For 100 days now, he’s been blogging for Best In Show Daily readers about the wonderful world of dog shows. Since he first reported from the floor at AKC/Eukanuba in Orlando, he’s brought you results from Palm Springs and Louisville, and he’s invited you to his “Garden Party” and to a holiday dinner. He’s tackled the proposed AKC Group Realignment as well as the withholding of breed winners from the groups at Crufts. Of course, he’s been busy bringing you the winners each week at both The Back Story and Dog Show Poop, and he’s always reporting on the latest ratings race. Discover what it all means to Billy to share his passion for purebred dogs with an ever-growing legion of readers.

The First 100 Days
By Billy Wheeler
For over 100 days now I have been sharing the back stories from the world of AKC dog shows with you here at Best In Show Daily. I actually started my association with BISD daily back in December just before I went to the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship in Orlando FL. Since then I have been at the Kennel Club of Palm Springs shows, the Westminster Kennel Club show, the Kentuckiana Cluster, & the Sacramento Kennel Club show. By the end of the year, I hope to visit every area of the US, with trips planned to The Great Lakes region, the Great Plains states, the Pacific Northwest, New England, the Mid Atlantic, & The Deep South. more
One of my favorite aspects of being part of purebred dogs is remembering the people who inspired me, when I was young, to continue in the sport.
As a kid who grew up around the Terrier rings, of course there were lots of great Terrier men who were inspiring, but there was one woman that I really admired who duked it out with the “old boys’ network” in Terriers every weekend and often enough came away the victor.
I’d be surprised if you could find a single Terrier person who knew Dora Lee Wilson that didn’t think well of her. more
