The Hound with the Best BIS Record, plus Training Against Type

It’s time to move on to the Hound Group. Yes, Christi McDonald reviews the records to find the Hound that’s won the most Best in Shows. Can you imagine what it’s like to have bred, handled or owned the dog with the title of “Top Best-in-Show-Winning Hound?” Well, the team behind this bitch truly knew what they were doing because her sire holds the equivalent male title. Find out today which Hounds hold these records and how they got there.

“Should a dog look like his standard and act like his standard?” Billy Wheeler poses this question after sitting at Best in Show rings where all seven dogs intently stared at their handlers, revealing nothing of their unique temperaments. “Despite the fact that many of our standards are specific in description of temperament, a Best in Show ring at a highly competitive show may have seven dogs that all show the same laser focus on their handlers, moving about the ring like automatons,” he writes. Is this a problem?
