The Kentuckiana Cluster – Best of Luck!
The Kentuckiana Cluster of dog shows sees its first day of all-breed competition today, and Best In Show Daily’s Senior Editor Christi McDonald provides a report highlighting why Louisville, Kentucky, is the place to be this weekend. From the country’s top dogs that come here in hopes of elevating their rankings, to the expert judging panels made up of breed specialists and all ’rounders, to the Eukanuba Breeders Stakes held on Friday and Saturday, there are plenty of reasons to be at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
Master Blogger Billy Wheeler will be on site all weekend, providing you with late-breaking news from ringside, and Social Media Maven Pilar Kuhn will be keeping you updated through Facebook and Twitter. You won’t want to miss anything, so be sure to check in frequently to find out how your favorites are doing in the Bluegrass State.
In today’s DFR, Kayla Bertagnolli takes a look at how luck figures into dog shows, and how exhibitors try to improve their chances of winning through a variety of good luck charms.

Let’s Get the Louisville Party Started!
By Christi McDonald
The fun has begun at the 2012 Kentuckiana Cluster in Louisville. It commenced on Wednesday, March 14, with six big specialty shows, and the four all-breed shows begin today with the Mid-Kentucky Kennel Club. Every year Louisville, Ky., in March is such an exciting place to be, because not only do most of the country’s top dogs converge in this central location to vie for Group and Best in Show awards, but with dozens of supported entries and specialty shows in addition to the big all-breeds, depth of quality is found in dozens of breeds.
The list of judges who’ll pass on the entries at the Kentucky Expo Center this week is, as always, an impressive blend of breed specialist judges and our most experienced multiple Group judges and all ’rounders. more

St. Patrick’s Day is fun, imaginative and very green! Believe it or not, the color originally associated with the holiday was blue. Through the years, green took over, and now St. Paddy’s is one of the most widely celebrated saint’s days in the world! more
