Harrods’ of London to Close Pet Department, Kennel Gazette to Cease Publication

IT HAS long been an issue with many in the animal welfare world in the UK that the world-famous Harrods department store had a pet department, well Dog World readers were overjoyed last week when the company announced it is to close its pet department saying it was based on ‘commercial factors only’.
The department, called Pet Kingdom, which is located on the fourth floor of Harrods will apparently become extra space for women’s wear: “Employees have been informed and Harrods is working with them to find alternative positions in the store where possible,” a spokesman said. more

YOU CALL them puppy mills and we call them puppy farms but whatever we choose to call them they are places to be despised.
Looking back through our archive we have been writing on the issues for years but for some reason no one seems to grasp the nettle and take steps to regulate or even outlaw them. Well, a few years ago here in the UK a system was launched which allows people to set up their own online petitions. more
