The Latest Show Results, Buckhorn Valley KC and Hurricane Sandy

Blogger-in-Chief Billy Wheeler celebrated a big milestone over the weekend. The dog sport’s most prolific reporter posted his 5,000th installment of Dog Show Poop, and today he’s extending the record with another Monday Morning Mop-Up. Find out the names of the dogs that came out on top from Delaware, Ohio, to Dixon, Calif., and discover which hound picked up three Bests under the Caribbean sun.

Exhibitors gathered once again in the Centennial State to compete at Island Grove Regional Park in Greeley, Colo. Senior Editor Christi McDonald reports on the Group and Best in Show winners at the Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club’s back-to-back shows, and discovers that, for some of the competitors, winning is simply all in the family. Meet a few of today’s current show dogs that are descended from the stars of yesteryear.

As Hurricane Sandy makes landfall on the eastern seaboard today, millions of people and their animals are expected to wait out one of the largest storms ever to hit the continental U.S. From the Carolinas to New England, and west toward the Great Lakes, more than a quarter of the country’s land mass is likely to experience extreme weather conditions and widespread power outages. Everyone here at Best In Show Daily wishes to express our concern for the safety and well-being of all those within the path of the storm.

Fancy That: It’s All in the Family in Greeley, Colo.
By Christi McDonald

It seems to me that there were more shows than usual this past weekend with really decent entry numbers, which these days, for me, means over 1,000 dogs. The West Coast was the site for the weekend’s largest shows, with more than 1,600 both days in Northern California and upwards of 1,500 in Vancouver, Wash. more
