The Over-Handler and the Shrinking Exhibitor

DFR Blogger Kayla Bertagnolli recently watched the classes of juniors at a show where a former professional handler presided. Whenever the handling went to extremes, the judge made it clear how this affected his placements. Find out from three top professional handlers how over-handling in the ring can be detrimental to both the handler and his or her dog.

Conformation show entries may rise and fall, but the total number of exhibitors certainly appears to be shrinking. New people seem to be welcomed into the sport with less frequency, and this is having an effect both in and out of the ring. Get our Blogger-in-Chief’s take on the subject in Billy Wheeler’s latest edition of The Back Story.

Best In Show Daily invites you to participate in our latest online poll. Each week we ask readers to share their opinions on a topic of interest to breeders, exhibitors and dog lovers everywhere. This week we’d like to find out how many consecutive shows you’re willing to attend. To participate in our poll, go directly to the right-hand column of our home page at Let us know what you think!

There’s plenty of parking, grooming space, and ringside seating. more
