The Secret About Best in Show, plus Memorial Weekend Shows Closing

Senior Editor Bo Bengtson is talking about Best in Show – not the independent film or books by the name – but rather “the highest award available at any American Kennel Club dog show.” Bo recognizes the value most exhibitors place on this ultimate prize, but does it deserve the acclaim that it receives? Learn what Bo has to say about the merits – and follies – of Best in Show judging.

If you haven’t done so yet, it’s time to enter all the wonderful shows that start the Friday before Memorial Day and continue through the day itself, which falls this year on May 27. Clubs dueling for entries over the long weekend are in no short supply, as Senior Editor Christi McDonald reports on clusters and circuits in New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Texas and California. Every single one is pumping up its game to get you there.

Be sure to check out our photo galleries, where you’ll find recent winners and candid photos from shows held near and far. Just click on Show Scene below the masthead banner, or select any of the images in the left-hand column of our home page.
