‘Hickory’ Makes Proud Return to New York as Dam of Nine

“Nine on the ninth.” That’s how Cecilia Dove and her husband, Scott, refer to the nine puppies that GCh. Foxcliffe Hickory Wind had on October 9, 2011. A Scottish Deerhound whelping nine puppies isn’t unheard of, but it’s big news when the dam is the first of her breed to win Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show.
‘Hickory’ bested almost 2,500 other dogs in February 2011 to earn that honor; she’s also one of just a few Hounds to win at the Garden in the show’s 135-year history. more
Westminster Judge Is a Sentimental Soul

Judging the Non-Sporting Group at Westminster Kennel Club 2012 was one of the high points in Randy Garren’s life in purebred dogs. And when he stepped into the ring at Madison Square Garden on Monday night, he wasn’t the first person ever to mark a special event by wearing something with particular sentimental value.
Both as professional handlers and as breeders, Randy Garren and his partner, Dennis McCoy, share very fond memories of grand times at the Garden. As handlers, the pair piloted three Poodles and a Dalmatian to seven Group Firsts and a Best in Show on the green carpet. more
