The top Best In Show winning Sporting dog of all time is the Pointer bitch, Ch. Cookieland’s Seasyde Hollyberry. ‘Holly’ is the product of two all-breed Best In Show winners, by Am. Can. CH Bee Serious Lord Jim out of CH Cookieland’s Life of Leisure. Like her sire Lord Jim, Holly was a National Specialty BIS winner. Like her dam, who was the Number 2 Sporting dog and among the Top 10 dogs of all breeds in 2002, Holly was a major contender for top awards during her show career, reaching the pinnacle of Number 2 among all breeds in 2008, when she was separated from the Top Dog of all breeds by fewer than 800 points.

Holly’s quality was evident from the outset of her show career. At her first show she was Best of Breed and Group Third from the Puppy class, and she finished her championship in four shows with another Best of Breed from the classes. On the way to becoming the top-winning Sporting dog of all time, she won two American Pointer Club National Specialties, as well as the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship in 2008. She finished 2008 as the top Best-in-Show-winner for the year with 96 top awards. Bred by Cheryl Laduc and Anthony and Amy Cantor, Holly was shown by Michael Scott for owners Sean and Tammy McCarthy and Helyne Medieros.

Christi McDonald is a second-generation dog person, raised with a kennel full of Cairn Terriers. After more than a decade as a professional handler’s apprentice and handling professionally on her own, primarily Poodles and Cairns, she landed a fortuitous position in advertising sales with the monthly all-breed magazine ShowSight. This led to an 11-year run at Dogs in Review, where she wore several hats, including advertising sales rep, ad sales manager and, finally, editor for five years. Christi is proud to be part of the editorial team for the cutting-edge Best In Show Daily. She lives in Apex, N.C., with two homebred black Toy Poodles, the last of her Foxfire line, and a Norwich Terrier.

We had the pleasure of seeing this beautiful bitch a number of years ago in Virginia Beach when we were showing one of our Scotties.
Even seeing a picture now gives me goose bumps. She was absolutely breath-taking and you couldn’t take your eyes off of her when she was in the ring.
Many good wishes to her breeder and owners.
