If last week had a shortage of multiple BIS winners, this week has more than made up for it. It’s a rare week where there are three dogs getting a hat trick, three shows in one stop. The country’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, a Florida resident, spent the weekend on the West Coast in Redmond OR where she scampered away with all three of the Mount Bachelor Kennel Club’s BIS.
Also logging threepeats were two dogs who had just entered the Top 50, the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaz’R ‘N Wingfield Time Will Tell, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern. I’ve always thought of the English Setter as the ultimate gentleman’s dog and have been lucky enough to watch several really good ones the past couple of years. The English Setter, Trevor, and owner/handler Eileen Hackett picked up their three shows in Lima OH this weekend courtesy of the Sandusky Kennel Club, the Dayton Kennel Club and the Lima Kennel Club. Almost every year we have a German Shepherd Dog among our top Herding Dogs. The GSD, Galaxy, and handler Scott Yergin have just broken out of the pack by taking three of the four shows in Wrentham MA this week. We’ll wait until we have all the numbers in to see how much the wins will help him in the rankings.
We also had three of our Top Ten Dogs collect two BIS this weekend. The Number Seven Dog, the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, was in Ferndale CA, for the Lost Coast Kennel Club of California’s three shows, taking two of the big rosettes home with him. The Number Eight Dog, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, stayed close to home in Mt Vernon WA and collected two BIS from the Bell Vernon Kennel Association. Finally, the Number Ten Dog, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsand’s Columbus got his at the Kettle Moraine Kennel Club’s two shows in West Bend WI.
For all of you out there that think you know how it’s going to turn out, we remind you, don’t bet the lunch money. And that’s today’s Back Story.
