UKC Obedience and Rally Judging Seminar Set for August

A judging seminar for United Kennel Club obedience and rally obedience will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2013, at the Golden Gait Farm in Cornelius, Ore.

Seminar presenters are Cindy Leung and Sally Wells. The seminar fee of $25 includes lunch and a rulebook. The seminar is being hosted by the Canine Action Pack.

Current judges, prospective judges and interested exhibitors are encouraged to attend. Attendance by apprentice obedience judges will be counted as one completed apprenticeship.

Obedience topics will include:
Finer Points of Ring Procedure
Finer points of dealing with paperwork
Time management
Current rule changes
Suggestions for clarifications or changes to current rules

Rally obedience topics will include:
Course Design Philosophy
Course Design Tricks
Sign Combinations to Help Course Flow
Courses that Grow and Shrink to Fit Ring Size
Sign Placement Helps
Suggestions for New Stations
Suggestions for Clarifications of Current Sign Descriptions

Directions to Seminar at Golden Gait Farm:
From Highway 26:
Take exit #57, Glencoe Road.
Go south through Hillsboro for 10 miles.
Turn right at SW Unger Roadd.
Go 1 mile.
Driveway is on the left at the end of an arborvitae hedge. From Highway 217:
Exit at SW Farmington Rd/OR-10/Beaverton-Hillsdale
Highway.
Go west 11 miles.
Turn right at OR-219, and go 0.75 mile.
Turn left onto SW Unger Road.
Go 1 mile.
Drive is on the left at the end of an
arborvitae hedge.
