Help Support the OFA Team in the Inaugural Morris Animal Foundation’s Unite to Fight Pet Cancer Walk

The OFA team has set a fund raising goal of $2500. If we reach our goal, the OFA will match the contributions up to $2500, for a total donation of $5000!

Pictured are my two “heart” dogs…Chevy (Ch. Lanbur the Company Car) and his daughter Judy (Ch. Lanbur Miss Fleetwood) – both lost to cancer…Chevy from oral melanoma and Judy from lymphoma. I’m proud to be participating in the Morris Unite to Fight Virtual Pet Walk in their honor.

Eddie Dziuk and his two “heart” dogs…Chevy (Ch. Lanbur the Company Car) and his daughter Judy (Ch. Lanbur Miss Fleetwood) – both lost to cancer

Every pet deserves a long, healthy life. Unfortunately, this isn’t the reality. Cancer ends the lives of more dogs and cats than any other disease. Too many families have lived through this heartache and loss. Nearly 6 million new cat cancer diagnoses are made each year and cancer is one of the leading causes of death in dogs. By participating in and fundraising for the Unite to Fight Virtual Pet Walk, you can help increase Morris Animal Foundation’s capacity to invest in science that will help prevent and treat cancer in pets.

Morris Animal Foundation’s Unite to Fight Virtual Pet Walk is a virtual fundraising campaign in which participants pledge to take their pets for a walk on June 22, 2014. When you Unite to Fight, you honor dogs and cats that have fought cancer, and you join the world in a bigger fight by supporting pet cancer research through Morris Animal Foundation.

Employees from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) will be walking with their pets on Saturday, June 22, 2014 as part of the virtual walk, to raise awareness and funds for companion animal cancer research. Our canine and feline companions suffer from many of the same cancers that we do. Much of the cancer research funded by the Morris Animal Foundation has translational medicine benefits since Dogs are viewed as an oustanding research model for new treatment modalities, clinical drug trials, and in the identification of the genetic basis for many cancer types.
