Up-to-the-Minute Top Ten

As we enter the final stretch of our show season, I think it’s time to look again at where our top dogs are in the rankings. Our Top Two Dogs All Breeds are still extremely close with the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, regaining the lead over the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, just last weekend.

The two met yesterday in David Swartwood’s Sporting Group at the Kanadasaga Kennel Club show in Romulus NY, and the Springer, Peyton, advanced to Dorothy Macdonald’s final while the GWP, Oakley, and handler Phil Booth went back to his setup with a third place ribbon. Peyton and handler Robin Novack would watch the Number Four Dog, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, take home the BIS rosette, and Peyton finish the day still a little over 500 points behind Oakley.

The Number Three Dog, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, trails the Top Two by a hefty 16,000 points, but leads the Wire, Sky, by an equally impressive 9,500 points. Things start to tighten up after that. The Number Five Dog, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, is just 2,300 Points behind the Wire, Sky, and is about 2,300 points ahead of the Number Two Toy Dog, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare. The Number Seven Dog, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence is hot on the heels of the MinPin, Classie, only a scant 300 points behind.

The rest of our Top Ten are well back and tightly bunched together. The Number Eight Dog, the Boxer, GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer, trails the Kuvasz, Tanner, by 5,500 points and leads the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, by less than 500 points. The Cocker, Beckham, has been taking it easy the past few weeks and has slipped back to the Number Nine position and leads the Number Ten Dog, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, by less than 300 points.

Barring some major surprises, it appears that no other dog will challenge our Top Two. However, I would not be surprised if we see one or more new dogs in the Top Ten by year’s end. Today’s Reserve Best in Show in Romulus was the Number 11 Dog All Breeds, the Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box. Jewel is only 2,000 points behind the Number Ten Dog, London. Our last shows of the year in Orlando FL and Cleveland OH may very well determine the makeup of our Top Ten and especially the Number One Dog All Breeds. Dog Show Poop and Best In Show Daily will be the very first to tell you how it all ends. And that’s today’s Back Story.
