USDA/APHIS Deadline Nears, plus a Midyear Report

Senior Editor Christi McDonald reminds readers that the July 16, 2012, deadline for public comment on proposed changes to U.S. Department of Agriculture breeding regulations is fast approaching. If implemented, hobby breeders will not be able to sell dogs to anyone who does not go directly to their homes or kennels. Calling All Fanciers: USDA/APHIS Deadline for Comments Nears

In reaction to the proposed changes to U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations that could seriously impact hobby breeders, the American Kennel Club is asking fanciers to familiarize themselves with the proposed changes and to sign its petition.

The View at Midyear

I have always liked heights. At the age of 3, I had to be rescued from my older cousin’s treehouse after scampering up into the older boys’ refuge when they vacated. I would spend part of my childhood in Colorado, climbing every rocky hillside I could. Later, I would be the only member of my construction crew that would sit in a swing dangling 100 feet above the ground to put a sprinkler pipe on a water tower. Why? Because the higher you climb, the more you can see. more
