Woofstock Watch Day Three

If you only do one day at Woofstock, Saturday is the day.  Everyone is dressed in their most creative hippie-era costumes (photos to follow), and almost 2,500 dogs are here to laugh at the people. We have a cool start to what will be a moderately hot day (mid-80s).

When I arrived at the Solano County Fairgrounds, the sun was already bright. Happily I managed to stumble across Virginia Lyne’s ring which was well shaded and blessed with nine Spinoni Italiani. The one that left with the breed ribbon was a local dog, GCH CH Naciemento Lladro Luigi.

I had originally ducked indoors to catch the Wire Fox Terrier judging, but when I saw judges Larry & Vicki Abbott by the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, I had to stop and take the above photo.

Vicki Abbott had a pretty entry of 33 Cavaliers, but the one she liked the best was GCH CH  Quail Garden Loch Lomond Deja Vu, handled by another photo op, Bill McFadden dressed in a tie-dyed jacket.

I hung around judge Dougherty’s ring to see his 21 Norwich Terriers. The breed was hotly contested with eight specials. His breed winner was GCH CH Waiterock Jack Falstaff.

Papillons, 21 of them, are next on my list. Larry Abbott’s best on this day was GCH CH McFriends Trujoy Eye Candy.

I have been drafted to help judge the Woofstock costume competition. We will choose Best Costume for men, women, children and dogs. While the men are a little shy (we only have six competing), the women, kids and dogs had no such reservations. Look for photos here later.
