Montgomery County Wrap Up and Farewell to Mr. Goodman

It had been beautiful weather all weekend long, and the Montgomery County Kennel Club day was no different. Our Club is very proud of our site (Montgomery County Community College) and the hard work of the grounds chair (Ken Kauffman) and show chair (Carol Carlson) to make it as easy and pleasurable for our exhibitors as possible. Montgomery is the largest terrier show in the world and it is unique because of the support of numerous National Specialty Clubs.

Show Dog/Therapy Dog Part 4

Now that you and your show dog have decided to give therapy work a try you need to find a certifying organization. Rarely you can “go it alone” but via an organization you will find resources, insurance coverage and some credibility if you approach a new facility. There are many therapy dog organizations across the united States. We will touch on the “Big Three” that certify or register therapy dog teams.

Slovenian Kennel Club organizes excellent Mediteranian Winner 2013 in Koper

Slovenia is a small country bordering Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia. But is also has a very small coastline, enough to have a prosperous port and access to the see. The country has over 2 million of inhabitants only but they seems to be very dogminded. The Cynoligical Association of Slovenia, the Slovenian Kennel Club, has no less than 12.000 members and 119 clubs.

Brussels Dog Show 2013

Bad luck affects the success of the Show.

While last year the Brussels Dog Show was surfing on high waves, this year they were forced to replace the regular date that is normally mid-December, to the summer, because the Heizel palaces were not available. Because a CACIB show has to be minimum two weeks away from other CACIB shows in the country, there was nothing else to choose from but the Summer period.

My Favorite Things: Performance Event Videos

One of the great parts of my job is writing about the amazing dogs and people who compete in agility, flyball, lure coursing, dock jumping and other performance events.

As an added bonus, I often come across videos of these trials and competitions. Some videos are professionally done. Others almost look professional. And still others are clearly by amateurs who just want to record their dogs’ performance. Regardless, I never skip the opportunity to watch dogs actually doing what it is I’m reporting on.

EXPERT AVAILABLE: Pet Owners Should Be Aware but Not Panic about Tainted Pet Treats, MU Expert Says

COLUMBIA, Mo. – On Oct. 22, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a request to veterinarians around the country for their assistance in identifying pets that were potentially sickened as a result of consuming tainted chicken jerky pet treats. Since 2007, the FDA has received more than 3,500 reports of pet illnesses related to the consumption of jerky treats, resulting in 580 pet deaths.
