Rescue Posts $10,000 to Keep from Returning Piper to Owner!

Piper will not be coming home for now. Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue, Inc. and Penny Sanderbeck posted $10,000 counter-replevin bond today with the Franklin County Municipal Court to retain possession of Veronia Covatch’s champion Shetland Sheepdog, Ch. Legacies Pipe Dream (Piper).

In an action that is disturbing within the dog world, Sanderbeck/COSR steadfastly has refused to return Piper to her owner. Sanderbeck and Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue, Inc. (COSR) had possession of Piper for less than 24 hrs before being notified by Covatch that this was her dog. Neither Sanderbeck nor her attorney will answer why she is refusing to return this dog.

We are waiting for a press statement from Covatch’s attorney and will update as soon as we have further news.
