Pontiac Kennel Club: Thursday, May 24, 2012
I’m here in Kalamazoo for day one of the Apple Blossom Cluster. The show hall is pristine, and the people are gracious. My thanks to Kathleen Sauve, Kevin Nieboer & PKC President Rhonda Burns-Rice for getting me settled in. With over 1,000 dogs entered, this is one of the biggest Thursdays we have seen this year.
I’m starting my day with Dr. Donald Gill and an entry of 25 Dachshunds (four Wire, nine Smooth, and 13 Longhaired). His Wire BOV was Hundelben’s Red Headed Stepchild MW. Best Smooth was CH Jaffa’s Georgia On My Mind and Best Longhaired was the mult-BIS GCH CH Hundelben Queen’s Armada SL.11 a.m.
My next stop is Pat Mowbray-Morgan’s ring to watch her go over 19 Chinese Crested, Including six specials. Her Best Of Breed was the powderpuff, CH Edelweiss Fondaralla. Did I tell you I have convinced my granddaughter that Chinese Crested are real My Little Ponies? I have even found one that is mostly pink. Noon
Before I head off to look for lunch and a photo-friendly wifi connection, I stayed to watch the Number Four Herding Dog, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Gambolon Blue Thunder, take the breed. While I didn’t make it to the rings, I did learn that the Number One & Number Three Dogs All Breeds, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, and the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, both took their breeds. Looks like we are in for an interesting afternoon.
