GCH CH Jaset's Satisfaction

GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction

I am staying over in California for a couple of days before heading home to Tennessee. This was a weekend to linger over. While the Woofstock cluster is one of the most enjoyable dog show experiences I have had, there were lots of other important happenings around the dog world.

First among those were the dogs that reached the century mark, 100 Bests in Show. The Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, picked up his 100th BIS at the Wheaton Kennel Club show on Saturday in Wheaton IL. London had many memorable moments over the past three years, including the 2011 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship and the 2012 AKC/Eukanuba World Challenge title. Another Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, provided the perfect foil. Ally burst on the scene in April of 2011 when she won the Poodle Club of America’s national specialty, from the classes. Ally was in Flagstaff AZ this weekend, picking up back2back BIS and her 99th & 100th BIS. Another dog close to the 100 mark is the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View Ripsnorter Silver Charm. Last year’s Number One Dog All Breeds collected his 98th career Best on Sunday at the Mount Pleasant Michigan Kennel Club show in Midland.

Also noteworthy this weekend, as in every week, are those dogs that impressed us with multiple BIS wins. Most notable among these was the country’s Number Two Dog all Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse. Matisse split his week between Michigan and Virginia, collecting two BIS in Midland before moving to Fisherville where he took both of the top prizes. However, the four wins were worth just under 2,000 points, not quite enough to match the 3,300-point payday earned by the Number One Dog, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, for her BIS and group wins here in Northern California. Also posting multiple BIS this weekend were the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic’s Candied Ham Of Pebblesrun, who took the opener & closer in New York, and the Great Dane, GCH CH Longo Miller N Lore’s Diamond Lil, who picked up back2back BIS in Ashville NC, as did the Skye Terrier, CH Cragmoor Goodtime Charlie, in Florida, and the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, in Louisiana.

Finally, you can mark one more breed off the overdue for a Best In Show list.  The Dogue de Bordeaux, GCH CH Evergreen’s Rub My Belly at Rising Star, picked up the breed’s first BIS at yesterday at the Tacoma Kennel Club show in Puyallup WA.   Congratulations to breeders  Angie Reed & Scott Reed, owners Jennifer Roberts & Lauren Parker and handler Michael Brantley.

I suspect anyone who went to an AKC dog show this weekend came away with a smile on their face. When were you last at a dog show? Come see what is so special. And that’s today’s Back Story.
